All three Becker County commissioners up for reelection this year have filed for office, and two of them have challengers as of Tuesday afternoon, May 26.
In District 3, incumbent John Okeson and challenger Terry L. Mackner have filed. In District 4, incumbent Donald Skarie and challenger Richard Vareberg have filed, and in District 5, incumbent Barry Nelson has filed.
Filing opened May 19 and closes at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.
Three seats are up for election on the Becker Soil and Water Conservation District Board, and so far only Anthony “Tony” Beck has filed.
In Minnesota Senate District 2, which includes most of Becker County, Republican incumbent Paul Utke of Park Rapids has filed, as has DFL-endorsed challenger Leonard Alan Roy (the current White Earth secretary-treasurer).
DFL incumbent Kent Eken has filed in Senate District 4, (which includes Detroit Lakes).
No one has filed in House District 2A yet, which includes most of Hubbard, Beltrami and Lake of the Woods counties.
In House District 2B, Republican incumbent Steve Green has filed, as has DFL challenger David Suby.
DFL incumbent Ben Lien is not running in House District 4A (Moorhead), but Republican Edwin Hahn and DFLer Heather Keeler have both filed.
In House District 4B, which includes Detroit Lakes, DFL incumbent Paul Marquart has filed.
In Congressional District 7, three people have filed: Michelle Fischbach (the endorsed Republican candidate) Noel Collis, a Republican challenger, and DFL challenger Stephen A. Emery. DFL Incumbent Collin Peterson has not yet filed.
