Lakes Area Birding Club

The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Morgan Gantz, a wilderness fellow, will discuss her involvement in an interagency strategy for monitoring trends in wilderness character across the National Wilderness Preservation System, specifically for the Wilderness boundary within Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors are encouraged to attend.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Native American Heritage Month program

Dennis Rogers, Navajo spirit dancer out of Topeka, Kan., is performing in DL in recognition of National Native American Heritage Month. He will perform for the public in the DL Middle School, starting at 6 p.m. with a social gathering, followed by the performance at 7. Dennis will be performing his hand drum songs, flute playing and dancing.

Community Thanksgiving feast

Holy Rosary Church hosts a community Thanksgiving feast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no cost, but free will donations will be accepted. Anyone is welcome. Delivery and takeout orders are available. For transportation, call 847-1393.

Dog gift fundraiser

From Nov. 24 to Dec. 15, donations are being accepted at Lucky Dog of either monetary means or pet gifts for the dogs with Patriot Assistance Dogs and the Marshmallow Foundation animals for their stockings.

Republicans’ Christmas party

In lieu of a regular Becker County Republicans monthly meeting there will be a Christmas party on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. in Speak Easy. You’ll be ordering off the menu and at your own expense. Please, please RSVP to Bev Farner at 218-844-6803 by Dec. 4.

Domestic Violence Support Group

Domestic Violence Support Group meets every Wednesday from 5-6 p.m. in the Lakes Crisis and Resource Center. Topics discussed include: Impact of DV on Children, Why Do Women Stay, Building Resiliency and Moving Forward. This is an open group with daycare available upon request. Community Alliance Church programs

Community Alliance Church, Detroit Lakes, hosts Quilting for Missions Mondays at 9:30 a.m.; AWANA and youth group Wednesdays from 6:30-8:15 p.m. for 3 year olds-5th Grade, and youth group for grades 9-12 is Wednesdays 8-9:30; Ladies Bible Study Thursdays from 10-11:45 a.m. Childcare is available Thursdays, including a homeschool group. The first Tuesday of every month is High Mileage (suggested ages 55 and up), which meets for “pot-blessing” meal at noon, followed by special music and a Bible nugget.

Cancer support group

Essentia Health St. Mary’s Cancer Support Group meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5 pm.  Please meet at the fireplace in the Clinic Lobby. L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A.
