Harold S. "Bud" Fisher, 85, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo.

Bud Fisher was born to Henry and Mable (Twaddle) Fisher on Aug. 4, 1920 in Derrick, N.D. As a young boy, he moved to Frazee, where he attended school. He then served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He served at Iwo Jima and Guam. Following his discharge in 1945, he moved back to Frazee. Bud worked in road construction, for Landseidle Construction of Glyndon, Minn., for several years, retiring in 1985.

Bud was a member of Jess-Omundson VFW Post 1676, Detroit Lakes. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, cooking and playing whist.

Surviving him are his brother, Gerald R. Fisher of Bremerton, Wash.; one niece and one nephew. His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, with Chaplain Vicki Marthaler officiating; visitation will be held for one hour prior to the start of services. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Pelican Rapids.

West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, is handling arrangements.
