Helen D. Wicklund, 67, of Detroit Lakes, died peacefully, with family by her side, on Friday, April 7, 2006, at her home on Pelican Lake.
Helen Darlene Metcalf was born to Roy and Irene (Berg) Metcalf on June 2, 1938, in Pierre, S.D. She lived in Pukwana, S.D., until 1945, when her family moved to Fargo. She graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1955, and Interstate Business College in 1957. After graduation, Helen worked several years for Nodak Mutual, Fargo.
On June 7, 1958, Helen married David L. Wicklund in Fargo, and they made their home in Moorhead. They moved several times, as David's job took them to Minot, N.D., Bismarck, N.D., and back to Fargo, where Helen lovingly raised their three children.
In 1988, Helen began working for Metropolitan Federal Bank (now US Bank) in Fargo. Helen and Dave moved to Detroit Lakes in 1987, and she continued to work at the bank until her retirement in 1995.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends and her two faithful dogs, Rusty and Beau, but her greatest joys were her husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; three children, Susan (Jeff) Zeltinger and Gregg (Derel) Wicklund, both of Fargo, and Kathy (Jim) Eggmann of Kindred, N.D.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Ron Metcalf of Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family wishes to thank all of their friends, neighbors, the Roger Maris Cancer Center, and Hospice for their care and support during Helen's illness.
Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, in Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, with interment to follow at Christine Cemetery in Christine, N.D.
