Rev. Henry V. Buchholz, 76, of Richville, Minn., died Friday, February 10, 2006, at Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham.

Henry was born to Clarence and Anna (Schultz) Buchholz on Dec. 23, 1929, in Minneapolis. He was baptized on Jan. 12, 1930, and confirmed his faith on May 30, 1943. He graduated from Wadena High School in 1947, and then attended Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis. Henry served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Ill., in 1963, and was ordained into the ministry on June 9, 1963.

Henry married Mildred Thalmann on June 15, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Mildred died June 12, 1989. Henry later married Martha Bjorklund Sundberg on Oct. 19, 1991.

During his long career, Henry served churches in Waldorf, Minn., Glendora, Mich., Warren-Radium, Minn., Hankinson, N.D., and Appleton-Shible Township, Minn., before retiring from the ministry in October 1988. He then provided pastoral services for numerous vacancies at churches in the Perham-Ottertail and surrounding area. He also served as assisting pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Martha Buchholz of Richville; five sons, Alan (Diane) Buchholz of Panama City, Fla., Keith (Ruth) Buchholz of New York Mills, Duane Buchholz of San Diego, Calif., Stephen Buchholz, also of California, and Glenn Buchholz of Michigan; one daughter, Karen (Rev. Thomas) Puffe of LaMoure, N.D.; two stepsons, Douglas (Gail) Sundberg of Richville and Gary Sundberg of Ottertail; two stepdaughters, Carol Paurus of Menahga and Dr. Sylvia (Dale) Minnerath of Sartell, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Wittel of Bethel, Minn.; and one brother, James (Mary) Buchholz of Carbondale, Ks.

Preceding Henry in death were his parents; his first wife, Mildred; daughter, Cynthia; two brothers, Ralph and David; and one sister, Mary.

Henry will be missed by many. The family wishes that memorials be made to St. Paul's Building Fund, Perham, and Lutheran Island Camp, Henning, Minn.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 13, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, with the Rev. Timothy Vaughan, Rev. Terry Grzybowski and Rev. Karl Weber officiating. Burial followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Ottertail.
