A Mahnomen resident was injured in a sideswipe collision near Ogema late Friday afternoon.

Merlin Deegan, 47, of Mahnomen was treated and released following the accident.

The 2009 Dodge Charger he was driving was hit by a 2003 Buick driven by Rebecca L. Villebrun, 51, of White Earth, according to the State Patrol. She suffered no apparent injuries.

Villebrun was southbound on Highway 59 about 1.5 miles north of Ogema when her Buick swerved into the northbound lane.

Deegan swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision and the Buick struck the left side of his vehicle, hitting just to the rear of the driver's door. Both cars ended up in the ditch -- Villebrun's in the west ditch and Deegan's in the east ditch.
