Jack R. McDougall, 69, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes, under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Jack R. McDougall was born to Dudley J. and Angeline (Blair) McDougall on May 6, 1936 in White Earth. He was raised and educated in the area, attending St. Benedict's Mission School and White Earth Public School. He later attended welding school in California and jewelry school in Minneapolis. Jack married Dorothy Power on June 11, 1961 in Detroit Lakes. He worked in the shipyards in California; for Kaiser Steel in Vallejjo, Calif.; Tank & Steel Co. in Minneapolis; and Nelson & Nelson Jewelry Manufacturing in Minneapolis, until 1981, when he became disabled.
Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing, snowmobiling with his children and, in later years, his grandchildren, American Indian puzzles and collecting American Indian keepsakes.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy McDougall of Detroit Lakes; two sons, John (Myrna) McDougall of Callaway and Mike McDougall of Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Lori (Jay) Wolfe of Milwaukee, Wis., and Vangie McDougall of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Dudley McDougall, Jr., of Menahga; and a sister, Gloria Jerry Sargent of Bemidji. Preceding him in death were his daughter, Ramona Rae; and two sisters, Darlene Libby and Gladys Henry.

A mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes has been serving the family.
