James "Chopper" Anick, 56, of Pelican Rapids, died in his sleep on Sunday, February 12, 2006, after a lengthy battle with leukemia.

Jim, the son of Steve and Ruth Anick of Hermantown, Minn., was born on Oct. 22, 1949, in Duluth, Minn. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 1968. For the last 23 years, Jim was a resident of Pelican Rapids, where he worked for the Department of Agriculture up until his death. Prior to working for the Department of Agriculture, he worked for the State of Minnesota, as a grain inspector at the Duluth harbor.

James is survived by a sister, Sandra (Lee) Isaacson of Nevada; three brothers, Leonard (Arlene) Anick of Hermantown, Roger Anick of Wisconsin and Ronald (Lauris) Anick of Moose Lake, Minn.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 17, at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, which has been handling arrangements. No Pelican Rapids funeral service is planned at this time. Future arrangements in Duluth are pending.
