Former White Earth resident James E. Big Bear, 63, of McIntosh, Minn., died Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Mahnomen Health Center in Mahnomen.
James Emmanuel Big Bear was born to Charles and Catherine (Rock) Big Bear on Jan. 3, 1943 in White Earth. He was a lifetime resident of the White Earth-Ponsford area. During his working life, he was a welder, mostly working for railroads. He had been a resident of McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh since 2004.
James is survived by two sons, Brandon Antell of Cass Lake, Minn., and James Big Bear, Jr., of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Joleen Antell of Cass Lake and Elisa Garcia of Houston, Texas; numerous grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Kimbal of Minneapolis.
Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, and will continue until the time of the service on Saturday at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford.

Traditional services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Old Pine Point School.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
