JoAnn Marie Leines was born to Joseph and Agnes (Sather) Leines on Oct. 13, 1939 near Gary, Minn. She lived on the family farm until junior high age, when she moved to Oregon with her family for a couple of years. They then moved to Bejou, Minn., where JoAnn lived until she married. She graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1957.

After graduation, JoAnn went to work at Ness/Wild Rice Auto in Mahnomen. She married Kermit Kruger on Aug. 16, 1958 in Bejou. In 1959, the couple moved to a farm south of Audubon, and JoAnn worked for Peter's Meats in Detroit Lakes. In 1964, they bought a farm near Callaway. In 1971, JoAnn went to work at Rural Minnesota CEP. She retired in February of this year, after 33 years of working there. JoAnn also helped run the family farm until they quit farming in the spring of 2004. In July 2004, she and Kermit moved to a home just north of Floyd Lake by Detroit Lakes, where she lived until her death.

JoAnn was an avid bowler, softball and volleyball player throughout the years, until her illness stopped her from participating. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities, as well as taking trips with family members.
