The Detroit Lakes volleyball team finished third in Saturday's Mound-Westonka tournament by going 3-1.
The Lakers dropped their first match of the tourney to Mounds View 2-1, losing by scores of 25-21 and 18-16, while winning game two 25-14.
"It was a very good match for us," said DL head coach Beth Leighton. "I thought after an early morning and long bus ride, the girls were ready to play."
DL proceeded to win its next three matches, all in sweeping fashion.
The first came against St. Louis Park with victories of 25-15 and 15-18.

"The team served very aggressively, and it allowed us to take advantage of some free ball opportunities," Leighton included. "Our kids were also making some great decisions about where to put the ball."
The momentum was carried into a 2-0 win over Minneapolis Washburn, 25-16 and 25-6.
After finishing second in pool play, the Lakers faced host Mound-Westonka for third place.
The Lakers took the first game 25-15 and survived a close second by the score of 25-23.
"I thought the seniors did a great job of keeping their focus and going hard regardless of the score," Leighton said. "They made some great plays and made it a very exciting match to be a part of."
Middle hitters Alycia Heisler and Morgan Lof each had good offensive output with 20 and 18 kills, respectively, while outside hitter Robin Hutchinson collected 14.
Abby Hoganson led with 32 assists in her setting role, while Maura Schumacher was 22-23 with four ace serves.
Dani Labine was 33-42 in digs for the tournament and Emily Lindquist, 15-19.
