On Nov. 14, the American Legion and Auxiliary hosted their 42nd annual Teachers Tea, celebrating American Education Week. The theme for Education Week was "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and our Responsibility."
All current and retired public and parochial school personnel were invited. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 15 served a light lunch and cake. Ninety-seven school personnel, including one student teacher, signed the guest book.
Tom Frank, post service officer, was emcee for the event. After American Legion Auxiliary President Diane Hayes and American Legion Commander Dylan Willie welcomed guests, Tom did a roll call of all schools. Each school was announced and both current and retired personnel were recognized.
Tom also informed the group of the many children and youth activities that the Legion sponsors.
Nine Senior Auxiliary, one community volunteer and two Junior Auxiliary members helped serve the luncheon. Co-chairmen were Diane Hayes and Corrine Frank.
