Leonard Anderson, 81, Decorah, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in the Aase Haugen Home, Decorah.

Leonard Orlando Anderson was born May 17, 1925 in Decorah Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Clara (Skaim) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Geralda Elaine Chase on May 15, 1945, in Decorah. This union was blessed with two children: Karen and Dennis. Leonard worked many years for Reardon Locker and Meat Market and Decorah Skellgas. He and Geralda moved to Detroit Lakes in 1968. He worked for the city of Detroit Lakes full time for 18 years until retiring on May 15, 1987, and then worked part time for about nine years after retirement. The couple returned to Decorah in July 2003 to be closer to their family.

Leonard loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He had an icehouse and spent many hours ice fishing in the winter. Leonard and Geralda also camped and went lake fishing in the summertime.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Geralda, Decorah; eight sisters and one brother, Pearl Davidson, Rueben (Donna) Anderson, Louise (David) Vander Sanden, Lorraine (Roger) Nolden, all of Sun Prairie, Wis., Florence Wilmot, Clarksville, Iowa, Arlene Hogenson, Verna (Willard) Hanson, both of Decorah, Ellen (Arland) Brown, Mabel, Minn., and Gladys (Lawrence) Hageman, Cresco, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson, Waunakee, Wis.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen; his son, Dennis; three brothers, Arnold, Clarence and Orval Anderson; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Anderson, Emma Anderson and Mabel Anderson, and four brothers-in-law, Irving Davidson, George WIlmot, Arnold Hogenson and George Bidne.

Funeral services were April 20 in Decorah Lutheran Church. Interment was in Pontoppidan Cemetery, Decorah.
