The Minnesota Senior Games are returning to Alexandria July 19-22.
The Senior Games are an Olympic-style event in which senior athletes compete for medals and qualifying rights to the National Senior Games (NSGA) in 20 different athletic events.
Age divisions are 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90 and older.
The Minnesota Senior Games are scheduled to take place in Alexandria July 19-22 and is hosted by Lakes Area Recreation. Between 300 and 400 athletes from throughout Minnesota as well as from other states are expected to take part in the event.
Social activities include a Whopper Burger Feed at City Park sponsored by Burger King, an evening at Carlos Creek Winery sponsored by Humana and a banquet for all athletes and guests.

Gold, silver and bronze state medals will be awarded in each age division for the 20 different events. Athletes that receive a medal in their event will be eligible to compete at the National Senior Games in Houston, Texas June 16-30, 2011.
