With the snow melting and ice thawing, the Detroit Lakes White Drug is planning a spring move of its own.
Soon to be situated within the Washington Square Mall, the iconic downtown drugstore plans to refurbish space next to Faithful Expressions.
"We are pleased White Drug will be a new tenant. They will be a great addition to the Washington Square Mall," said mall manager Dawn Olson.
With the addition of White Drug to the mall venue, Olson noted it would be nice to keep a long-time neighbor downtown.
"We are happy they chose the mall and are staying downtown," said Olson. "They will be relocating in the former west half of Faithful Expressions and the space formerly occupied by the Pirates Den, and will begin their portion of the leasehold improvements next week."

"We plan to open June 1," noted Thrifty White Drug District manager Tom Wells.
The move came to be, Wells added, as they began negotiating their current lease.
"It was time to renew our lease and we were looking for a spot which was the best fit for us," he explained.
According to Wells, it was imperative that any moves they were going to make placed them near their current location.
"It was important to us to stay in the immediate vicinity. We have been located here for a long time and wanted to keep our convenient downtown location, hours and parking as well," he said.
Additionally, following mall hours, the new Washington Square Mall White Drug will have similar operating hours to their current ones, added Wells
"We will still have convenient hours for our customers, except we will be open an hour later, following the mall hour format."
Although changing locations, their store compliment of personnel and items will remain the same, stressed Wells.

"It will be the same stuff, just at a different location. We are still going to carry the same mix of drugstore items and are still going to have our one-hour photo too," said Wells. "We are also fortunate to be retaining all of our employees, who will be going with us to the mall."
For current store manager Steve Peterson, though, it will be a quick trip. He was recently promoted to manager of the Bemidji Thrifty White Drug store, and will be soon dividing his time between the two.
"In May, Steve will start to work at both locations, spending three days a week here to help oversee the move," concluded Wells.
