Becker County crime and fire report: June 2-5

An officer saved a wild duck in distress after it tried to enter a house, a man hit a woman with a pickup and got a DWI, three violations were given for lingering outside a business with liquor, and other recent reports from the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Office

Thursday, June 2

10 a.m., Officers were informed a resident along Wilson Avenue, Detroit Lakes, had moved but their pets remained. It was determined someone was still tending to the pets and the owners had arranged for a later transport for the pets to get to their new home.
2:02 p.m., Person looking in an apartment window on Laura Avenue, Detroit Lakes, caught the attention of a neighbor. Officers learned the person looking through the window knew the person in the apartment, and the two waved to each other.
1:46 p.m., Verbal dispute on Main Avenue in Frazee.
5:15 p.m., Fire reported in the woods at a residence along Meadow Road, Detroit Lakes. Homeowner extinguished the fire.
7:03 p.m., Explosions reported along County Highway 21, Detroit Lakes. Officers determined that tannerite, a brand of binary explosive targets, were being shot in a safe location.
7:35 p.m., Minor was asking adults to purchase cigarettes for him at a store along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes. Minor was gone when officers arrived.
9:24 p.m., Domestic reported at a residence along Basswood Road, Ponsford. Victim denied medical treatment.
10:25 p.m., A wild duck was trying to get into a house through a door along Cherry Ridge Drive, Detroit Lakes. Caller said the duck had a hook and string in its bill. An officer arrived, wrangled the duck and removed the hook and string. The duck was then taken to a safe location and released.

Friday, June 3

6:42 a.m., Drug paraphernalia found in a bathroom along Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
1:03 p.m., Camper burglarized along Cormorant Avenue, Detroit Lakes. Several items were missing; the camper was not locked.
1:44 p.m., The trailer of a semi truck came unhooked and was blocking the road along State Highway 87, Frazee. A Becker County Sheriff's Officer assisted the truck driver.
9:01 p.m., Missing children report; children found safe.
10:34 p.m., Bicycle taken from a business along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes.

Saturday, June 4

12:17 a.m., Adult male was standing near the road along County Highway 34, Ogema, after driving his sedan into the ditch. No injuries were reported and he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
1:59 a.m., Large group of people were reportedly pushing each other at a business along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes. When officers arrived, the crowd dispersed.
5:18 p.m., Fight on the beach along West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes. A juvenile was taken into custody.

Sunday, June 5

1:59 a.m., A 40-year-old man was leaving a residence along County Road 144, Detroit Lakes, in a Dodge Ram when he struck a 33-year-old woman. The woman reported minor injuries. The man was arrested for a DWI.
1 p.m., Resident along 2nd Street, Lake Park, reported $5,000 was stolen from a safe.
1:57 p.m., Disturbance at the mall in Detroit Lakes; all okay upon officer arrival.
2:09 p.m., Vehicle broken into along Stone Creek Drive, Detroit Lakes; garage door opener missing.
1:32 a.m., Person with liquor reported outside of a business along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes; individual received a liquor violation.
1:38 a.m., Person with liquor reported outside of a business along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes; individual received a liquor violation.
1:45 a.m., Person with liquor reported outside of a business along Highway 10, Detroit Lakes; individual received a liquor violation.
8:56 p.m., Fire reported along County Highway 21, Ogema; bag of clothes on fire.
