Court news: Fargo man sentenced on Becker County sex charge

The girl’s mother found out from a Snapchat video sent from the girl to her sister, saying that the girl was drinking and had had sex with a 23-year-old guy, according to court records.

DETROIT LAKES — Skyler Scott Miller, 24, of Fargo has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to court records, on Sept. 6, 2020, he had intercourse with a 14-year-old girl at a motel room in Cormorant village. He admitted it to a deputy who was investigating the case. The girl’s mother found out from a Snapchat video sent from the girl to her sister, saying that the girl was drinking and had had sex with a 23-year-old guy.

On May 23, a stay of adjudication was issued by Becker County District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, and successful completion of probation will result in a dismissal.

Miller was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and was fined $1,000.

He was ordered to get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare.

He was ordered to follow all recommendations outlined in a psychosexual evaluation report, as arranged by his probation agent, and must provide a DNA sample when directed.

He was placed on supervised probation for five years.
