DETROIT LAKES — Julie Ann Bevins, 50, of rural Waubun has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony escape from custody.
According to court records, on June 11, she fled from the emergency room in Detroit Lakes, after receiving a furlough to the emergency room after saying she fell down stairs at the jail. Bevins was found outside an apartment complex later that day and taken back into custody. Upon review, video of her falling down the stairs shows that the fall was apparently intentionally planned. She was being held on a pending felony case during the incident.
On Aug. 2, District Judge Micahel Fritz issued a stay of imposition and placed her on supervised probation for five years. Successful completion of probation will result in a misdemeanor conviction.
She was ordered to serve 19 days in jail, with credit for 19 days served and must pay a $500 fine plus $650 in court fees.
She was ordered to get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare.

Man sentenced for assault, felony dismissed
Allen Gene Bloom, 52, of Ponsford has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. A felony charge of terroristic threats was dismissed in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on July 8 Becker County deputies were called to Ponsford on the report of a man threatening people. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victims, who said they were walking down the street in Ponsford when Bloom said he was going to cut them.
Deputies arrested Bloom, who was intoxicated, and took him to jail.
On Aug. 22, Bloom was sentenced on the misdemeanor by District Judge Michelle W. Lawson to 90 days in jail, with 42 days stayed one year and credit for 48 days served.
He was fined $500 plus $650 in court fees and was placed on unsupervised probation for one year.
