Crime and fire report: Drunken man busted after throwing pumpkin through window in Waubun, causing injuries

An intoxicated man threw a pumpkin through the window of a residence causing minor injuries to the caller from shattered glass, according to a Becker County emergency dispatch report. The suspect fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived. While police were talking to the caller, a 30-year-old Red Lake man returned to the residence and was arrested.

Monday, Oct. 31

2:45 a.m., near North Street, Detroit Lakes, a 31-year-old Detroit Lakes man was cited for disorderly conduct.

8:11 a.m., near Mission Road, Ogema, a caller reported spray-painted graffiti on a Circle of Life Academy bus.

10:05 a.m., at Walmart, Detroit Lakes, two instances of past action shoplifting reported.

10:59 a.m., near Main Avenue, Frazee, a 16-year-old Frazee boy was reported as a runaway.

1:11 p.m., near Balsam Avenue, Frazee, small grass fire reported. A stump was smoldering and Frazee firefighters extinguished the stump.

4:32 p.m., near Summit Avenue, Detroit Lakes, a caller reported a 34-year-old Detroit Lakes man was making lewd comments and may have exposed himself. The incident is under investigation.

6:38 p.m., near north Pearl Lake Road, Detroit Lakes, a vehicle struck a deer.

8:39 p.m., near Pearl Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, stolen vehicle. A black 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 was reported stolen.

8:46 p.m., near 8th Street, Detroit Lakes, trespassing. A 45-year-old Fargo man was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

9:04 p.m., near Country Avenue, Lake Park, smell of natural gas. The odor dissipated naturally.

9:05 p.m., near Randolph Road, Detroit Lakes, a semi-truck and trailer was reported as smoking while under operation. The truck was carrying beet pulp. It pulled off the roadway and onto the property of Swanson’s Auto Repair. Detroit Lakes firefighters assisted in extinguishing the fire.

9:28 p.m., near 230th Avenue and Wheeler Lake Road, Detroit Lakes, a vehicle struck a deer.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

8:34 a.m., near Highway 10 and McKinley Avenue, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

10:21 a.m., near Linden Lane, Detroit Lakes, past action assault reported.

10:38 a.m., at Detroit Lakes High School, vaping device seized from a student. The school will discipline the student internally.

12:10 p.m., near 2nd Street, Frazee, a yellow hauling wagon was reported stolen. The wagon is valued at $200.

12:15 p.m., near east Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damage.

1:01 p.m., near Holmes Street, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damage.

1:08 p.m., near Rattle Snake Circle, Waubun, a vehicle struck a power pole. No injuries.

1:08 p.m., near Minnesota Avenue and Holmes Street, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash involving one parked. No injuries.

1:30 p.m., near Becker County, drug related.

2:22 p.m., near Ida Beach Road, Lake Park, two 10-foot, 12-inch wooden planks were reported stolen from a property. The planks are valued at $100.

4:50 p.m., near Marten Drive, Ogema, brush fire reported.

5:20 p.m., near Washington Drive, Osage, harassment. A caller reported their vehicle was egged while they were at their residence. The caller also believes this to be continued harassment from the same individual and left the residence out of fear for their safety. The case is under investigation.

11:33 p.m., near Randolph Road, Detroit Lakes, phone scam targeting an assisted-living resident reported.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

12:55 a.m., near County Road 21, Waubun, a caller reported an intoxicated man threw a pumpkin through the window of a residence, causing minor injuries from the shattered glass to the caller. The suspect fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived. While interviewing the caller, a 30-year-old Red Lake man returned to the residence and was arrested by officers on-scene.

3:04 a.m., near Detroit Lakes, possible extortion attempt involving inappropriate photographs. The case is under investigation.

7:19 a.m., near Rochert, a caller received unwanted text messages and photographs. They were advised on harassment restraining order procedures and advised to block the number.

8:12 a.m., near Vigen Lane, Lake Park, vehicle fire. No injuries. Fire extinguished in about 10 minutes Lake Park firefighters.

1:34 p.m., near Pearl Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, a 16-year-old Detroit Lakes boy was listed as a runaway. The boy also took a vehicle without permission. A black, 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 was reported as stolen.

3:22 p.m., near Thunderbolt Ranch Road, Lake Park, an ATV was on private property without permission and damaged about eight survey sticks.

4:15 p.m., near County Road 26, Rochert, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources requested a fire tanker to assist with a grass fire. Carsonville firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze after about three hours.

4:50 p.m., near Mission Road, Ogema, a caller wanted two intoxicated men removed from a residence. A 37-year-old White Earth man was arrested for trespassing.

7:34 p.m., near Old Pit Road, Detroit Lakes, possible overdose. A 44-year-old Detroit Lakes woman was found unconscious. One dose of Narcan was administered and the woman responded positively. She was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for additional treatment.

9:03 p.m., near County Road 26, Rochert, a caller reported a man stabbed a vehicle tire. After interviewing the parties, deputies arrested the caller, a 43-year-old Frazee woman, for possible DWI and drug possession.

11:47 p.m., near Loon Drive, Ogema, a “hysterical” woman called 911 to report the death of her cat. Upon interviewing the caller, a 20-year-old Ogema woman was arrested for minor consumption and misuse of 911 emergency dispatch.
