Crime and fire report: Structure fire in Ogema, no injuries; possible intentional overdose in Frazee

A wood room in a residence on Mary Yellowhead Road in Ogema was reported as on fire on Saturday, Nov. 5, according to an emergency dispatch report. The ceiling was reportedly burning around a pipe. All occupants evacuated safely. The fire was extinguished after about 80 minutes.

Thursday, Nov. 3

8:14 a.m., near Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

8:31 a.m., near County Road 26 and County Road 37, Detroit Lakes, heavy smoke reported. No fire was found.

9:16 a.m., at the Quality Inn, Detroit Lakes, burglary. The office was broken into. The caller was unsure if anything was missing.

9:48 a.m., near Bear Clan Drive, Ogema, graffiti found on a vehicle.

12:21 p.m., near Lake Park, inappropriate sexual conduct involving a juvenile reported. The case is under investigation.

1:12 p.m., near mile marker 43 on Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, two-vehicle crash. No injuries.

2:59 p.m., near County Road 21, Ogema, a caller reported their brother was “beating” them. The caller reported minor bleeding injuries. A juvenile male was transported to a detention facility.

3:25 p.m., near Main Street, White Earth, property damage reported.

4:35 p.m., near Main Street, White Earth, a window was reportedly kicked-in to a vacant apartment.

6:39 p.m., near Detroit Lakes, a 3-year-old child was found “limp” and possibly choking. Upon arrival, the child was breathing and blinking. The 3-year-old was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for treatment.

Friday, Nov. 4

1:19 a.m., near Natahwaush, a caller reported a disturbance that led to a foot pursuit of a suspect. One person was transported to Tri-county Community Corrections.

8:42 a.m., at D&D Appliance, Detroit Lakes, possible credit card fraud reported. The incident is under investigation.

12:52 p.m., near Hubbard County, a caller reported inappropriate sexual conduct. The caller was advised to inform the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension due to a conflict of interest in Hubbard County and the case is under investigation.

1:21 p.m., near Barbara Avenue, Detroit Lakes, gas pump drive-off.

1:49 p.m., near Ponsford, suspected drug activity reported.

2:46 p.m., near 170th Street, Detroit Lakes, a garage was burglarized. An ATV was damaged and the windows to the garage were broken.

3:08 p.m., at Detroit Lakes High School, a K-9 unit swept the school parking lot and “hit” on multiple vehicles. The student drivers of the vehicles were spoken to by school officials.

3:43 p.m., near Willow Avenue, Frazee, a caller reported they had been receiving debt collection phone calls for multiple credit cards that were opened in their name. The incident is under investigation.

3:59 p.m., near Reynolds Street, Detroit Lakes, a caller reported a roll of fencing was stolen from the property.

7:52 p.m., near Balsam Boulevard, Detroit Lakes, carbon monoxide alarm. Minnesota Energy was contacted.

8:32 p.m., near County Road 131, Detroit Lakes, about 15 wooden planks were stolen from a property.

8:36 p.m., near Highway 59 and Steffl Road, Callaway, ditch fire reported.

11:21 p.m., near Native Loop, Ponsford, a physical fight between two individuals was reported. No official statement given.

Saturday, Nov. 5

7:55 a.m., near Highway 10 and Airport Road, Detroit Lakes, a stopped train was causing a crossing arm to be deployed causing a traffic backup. Burlington Northern Sante Fe was contacted.

8:27 a.m., near County Road 35, Waubun, fatal unknown medical. A 55-year-old man, of Chandler, Minn., was found not breathing and unresponsive. CPR was administered at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead.

8:06 p.m., near Frazee, a 25-year-old Frazee woman suffered a possible intentional overdose of prescription medication. She was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for treatment.

8:52 p.m., near County Road 157, Ulen, grass fire reported. The fire is about a half-acre in size. Extinguished by Minnesota DNR and Ulen firefighters.

Sunday, Nov. 6

3:46 a.m., near Bucksmill Drive and Millview Lane, Detroit Lakes, a vehicle struck a deer.

6:11 a.m., near 125th Street, Detroit Lakes, unknown medical. A 61-year-old Detroit Lakes woman was found unresponsive and not breathing. She was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s for treatment.

6:11 a.m., near Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes, a crushed prescription pill bottle was found and destroyed.

8:29 a.m., Height of Land Lake, a boater reported being out of gas on the lake. They were able to make it to shore.

11:13 a.m., near Bear Clan Drive, Ogema, vehicle damage reported. A nearby building exterior was also spray painted.

1:31 p.m., near Shorewood Drive, Detroit Lakes, a downed power pole caused a small fire in a roadside ditch.

1:49 p.m., near Frazee, possible intentional overdose. A 25-year-old Frazee woman was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for treatment.

2:06 p.m., near 3rd Street, Audubon, Publisher’s Clearing House scam reported. No money exchanged after check and credit card payments were stopped.

2:50 p.m., at AmericInn, Detroit Lakes, an employee brought their adult son to work with them. Due to the behavior of the son and employee, they were both issued trespass notices.
