Fatal crash reported on Hwy 113 near Waubun Thursday

The man was eastbound on Highway 113 in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it left the road, struck a guardrail, entered the south ditch and went into a small pond, according to the State Patrol. The man was not wearing a seatbelt.

A one-vehicle fatal crash was reported just before noon Thursday on Highway 113 near Waubun.

The name of the 68-year-old Waubun man who died in the crash will be released at noon Friday, according to the State Patrol.

The man was eastbound on Highway 113 in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it left the road, struck a guardrail, entered the south ditch and went into a small pond, according to the State Patrol. The man was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash occurred on dry pavement at 173rd Avenue east of Waubun in Lake Grove Township. Mahnomen County deputies, White Earth police officers and Waubun firefighters assisted at the scene.
