PERHAM — The following four candidates were elected to the Perham School Board: Michael Hamann, DJ Altstadt, Justine Anderson and Nathan Rooney.

Incumbent Michael Hamann earned 17.41% of the votes. He is a dentist and has been a resident of Perham for 48 years. He is a Vietnam War veteran and serves on several other boards including treasurer of the West Central Dental Society and is also a member of the Perham Area Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife’s three children all attended school in the district and two of his grandchildren are current students. Hamann also coached the girls basketball team for many years.
He has served on the school board on and off during his time in Perham.

DJ Altstadt earned 18.46% of the votes. He is a commercial and industrial estimator at Esser and a 2009 Perham High School graduate.

Altstadt graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a mechanical engineering degree and eventually returned to the area with his wife.
Together they have a 4-year-old and 1 ½-year-old. Altstadt is also the treasurer for Perham Township.

Incumbent Justine Anderson earned 19.12% of the votes. She was originally elected to the board in 2018. Anderson is the chief financial officer at Perham Health, where she has worked for over 10 years.
Anderson and her husband have two sons enrolled in Perham Public Schools.
Incumbent Nathan Rooney earned 18.80% of the votes. He will also serve another term on the school board.
Kyle M. DeVoe and lifelong Perham educator John Rutten also ran for school board.
