Part of Holmes Street West will be closed for DL Eagles Cornhole Tournament Friday and Saturday

The street will be closed from the Eagles Club at 112 Holmes St. West to the Lake Avenue and Holmes Street West intersection, which will remain open.

DETROIT LAKES — A small stretch of Holmes Street will be closed from noon Friday until 10 p.m. Saturday for the Detroit Lakes Eagles Club Cornhole Tournament. The street will be closed from the Eagles Club at 112 Holmes St. West to the Lake Avenue and Holmes Street West intersection.

The intersection of Holmes Street and Lake Avenue, and the alley behind the Becker County Courthouse, will remain open.

Wade Alfred Olds, 53, of Detroit Lakes was charged Nov. 22 in Becker County District Court with two felony criminal vehicular homicide charges involving driving while intoxicated. He is also charged with one felony count of criminal vehicular operation.
According to court records, on Sept. 29, 2021 he was arrested in the Holy Rosary Church parking lot in Detroit Lakes, after a KOPS (Keeping Our Police Safe) Alert was issued by Becker County dispatch a day earlier.
Two sedans and a deer were involved in an accident along County Highway 21, Detroit Lakes. The drivers of the sedans were 24 years old and 37 years old. Injuries were reported.
