Perham man suffers 'significant' burns during riding lawn mower fire Tuesday

A Perham man was transported to a nearby medical clinic, via LifeLink helicopter, after suffering "significant" burns to his right side and arm during a riding lawn mower fire in rural Perham on Tuesday evening, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office news release.

PERHAM — A Perham man suffered severe burns during a riding lawn mower fire in rural Perham on Oct. 18, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office news release.

On Tuesday at 4:09 p.m., Wayne Quittschreiber, 85, was operating his riding lawn mower when the vehicle caught fire. The fire ignited Quittschreiber's jacket and caused "significant burns" to his right side and arm, the news release stated.

The Otter Tail County deputies, Perham firefighters, Perham Ambulence, and Detroit Lakes LifeLink responded to the scene.

Quittschreiber was transported via LifeLink helicopter to a regional hospital due to his injuries.
