School bus-passenger car collision reported in Otter Tail County

Both vehicles were traveling at slow speeds due to a sharp curve in the road and icy conditions, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. There were several students on the bus, but no injuries were reported.

BATTLE LAKE — A Battle Lake school bus collided with a passenger car Tuesday afternoon, causing the car to slide into a ditch.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred about 13 miles northwest of Battle Lake, just south of Sharp Lake in Maine Township.

Both vehicles were traveling at slow speeds due to a sharp curve in the road and icy conditions, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

There were several students on the bus, but no injuries were reported. Another school bus arrived and transported the students home.

The school bus was eastbound on 283rd Street, approaching 318th Avenue, and the passenger car was southbound approaching 283rd Street. Both vehicles entered the curve and collided, causing minor damage to the bus and causing the passenger car to go into the ditch, according to the sheriff’s office.

The 2006 Bluebird school bus was driven by Ella Lien, 60, of Underwood and the 2014 Chevy Cruze passenger car was driven by Majori Zickur, 21, of Fergus Falls. There were no injuries reported and no citations given.

The crash was reported at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday and caused more than $1,000 in damage to each vehicle.
