Update: Names released in suspected Battle Lake murder-suicide

BATTLE LAKE — The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two people who died Monday in a suspected murder-suicide in rural Battle Lake.

The deceased are Steven Kern, 59 years old, and Susan Kinnunen, 58 years old, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office news release.

On Monday, Nov. 21, at approximately 2:24 p.m., the sheriff's office responded to a report of two adults found deceased in a residence.

The sheriff's office believes the event is an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Midwest Medical Examiners Office are assisting the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
