DETROIT LAKES — Anthony Randal-Ashley Villebrun, 39, of rural Waubun, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony transaction card fraud.

According to court records, on July 25, 2020, he and a female relative were involved in stealing a purse from a Menards employee and using the employee’s debit card to attempt to buy $720 worth of items at L&M Fleet.

The purchase was denied, but the victim got a phone alert while she was talking to a police officer about her stolen purse. Villebrun and his relative left before police arrived and were able to use the card to purchase over $430 worth of goods from two other retailers in Detroit Lakes. Witnesses and store video identified the two as being involved in using the stolen debit card.
