Woman injured in one-car crash near Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES — A St. Paul woman was injured in a one-car crash Sunday night near Detroit Lakes.

Shannon Ann Warren, 30, of St. Paul suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s hospital in Detroit Lakes.

She was northbound on Highway 59 in a 2001 Cadillac Seville when it left the road and struck a light pole, according to the State Patrol. Other occupants of the vehicle fled. It’s not clear if she was the driver or a passenger. She was not wearing a seatbelt, but airbags deployed in the Cadillac.

The crash was reported at 11:20 p.m. on dry pavement at Highway 59 near County Road 131 in Detroit Township.

The Becker County Sheriff's Office and Detroit Lakes Police Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.

Wade Alfred Olds, 53, of Detroit Lakes was charged Nov. 22 in Becker County District Court with two felony criminal vehicular homicide charges involving driving while intoxicated. He is also charged with one felony count of criminal vehicular operation.
According to court records, on Sept. 29, 2021 he was arrested in the Holy Rosary Church parking lot in Detroit Lakes, after a KOPS (Keeping Our Police Safe) Alert was issued by Becker County dispatch a day earlier.
Two sedans and a deer were involved in an accident along County Highway 21, Detroit Lakes. The drivers of the sedans were 24 years old and 37 years old. Injuries were reported.
