BEMIDJI, Minn. - A federal fugitive since 2009 has been arrested in Redby, Minn., after he was listed on a smartphone app created by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Adney Allen, 51, was arrested by Red Lake Tribal Police last week after they received a tip he was living in a trailer in a remote area on the reservation near Redby, Minn.
He was held in the Beltrami County jail until was turned over to federal officials on Friday, a release from ICE said Tuesday. His first court appearance was Monday in Grand Forks, N.D.
The tipster apparently learned of Allen's fugitive status via online media reports surrounding the October launch of ICE's Operation Predator app for Android smartphones.
In July 2009, Allen was indicted by a federal grand jury in Fargo, N.D., for possessing, distributing and receiving child pornography, the release said. Allen has been considered a fugitive since leaving the area before the grand jury returned an indictment against him. He was one of the fugitives featured on the Operation Predator app.

Since it was created, ICE's smartphone app has been downloaded nearly 130,000 times, officials said. The app was created "to seek the public's help with fugitive and unknown suspect child predators," the release said. The app has aided in the arrest of at least four other suspected child predator, officials said.
