A Fargo man is accused of kicking a Red Lake County, Minn., deputy in the head over the weekend.

Ryan John Johnson, 23, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct and property damage.

A sheriff's department news release said Johnson was removed early Sunday from the Voyageurs View Campground near Red Lake Falls, Minn., for being intoxicated and not having a camping pass.

Johnson was taken to the Sheriff's Office so he could find a ride home. He then became combative with deputies and kicked one of them in the side of the head and later broke a window of a patrol car, authorities said.

The deputy who was reportedly kicked suffered minor injuries but is able to fulfill his patrol duties.
