ADA, Minn. – A Dilworth man accused of killing a 22-month-old girl here wants a new attorney.

Raul Perez, 24, was expected to make a plea in Norman County court Tuesday, but he rejected the plea agreement and fired his attorney.

He plans to apply for a public defender, according to a WDAY News report.

Perez is charged with second-degree unintentional murder in the death of his former girlfriend’s daughter, Ariel Reyes.

She died from head and neck trauma last August while under the care of Perez, according to court documents.
