A felony complaint was filed against a Detroit Lakes man in Becker County District Court Feb. 9.
Shane Newman, 31, of 912 Minnesota Avenue, is accused of one count of offering a forged check. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
According to the complaint, Newman allegedly issued $575 in checks to businesses in Audubon and Lake Park in December 2005 on a Perham man's bank account.
