Justin Daniel Schmoll, 21, of 29757 Highway 34, Detroit Lakes was sentenced Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of fraud in obtaining credit.
On Oct. 22, 2004, he applied for a personal loan for $1,000 from Midwest Bank, using a 1998 Arctic Cat snowmobile as collateral.
On Nov. 1, 2004, he used the same snowmobile for collateral for a $1,565 loan from First Security Bank, according to court records.
He did not own the snowmobile, failed to meet repeated requests by the banks to verify ownership and registration, and never made a payment to either bank, according to court records.
In a separate incident, two felony charges of receiving stolen property were dismissed. He was accused of (and denied) involvement in the theft of two dirt bikes from a Seaberg Power Sports warehouse in 2004.

He was fined $500 plus court fees and ordered to pay restitution -- $1,552 to Midwest Bank; $2,099 to First Security Bank and $3,742 to Seaberg Yamaha.
