McDonald's restaurants throughout Minnesota, including the one in Detroit Lakes, are once again teaming up with Minnesota Forest Industries to give away 55,000 free seedlings to McDonald's customers on Arbor Day, Friday, April 28.

Red Pine seedlings will be available at 220 participating McDonald's in Minnesota, while supplies last. No purchase is necessary.

"This is the fifth year McDonald's has participated in an Arbor Day seedling giveaway, and if this Arbor Day is like past ones, the seedlings will go fast," said Elsa Carpenter-Peck, McDonald's Director of Marketing. "Our customers enjoy the opportunity to enhance Minnesota's great outdoors, and we're pleased to work with Minnesota Forest Industries to help them do it."

Part of the Arbor Day program will also include information in each McDonald's about Minnesota's forests and unique facts about trees, wildlife and the forest products industry.

"McDonald's provides a great service by helping its customers watch trees grow right in their own yards," said Wayne Brandt, Minnesota Forest Industries Executive Vice President. "The Arbor Day seedlings will add to the more than three million seedlings that will be planted throughout Minnesota this year."
