Meth discovered in purse

An Audubon woman made her first appearance in Becker County District Court on three charges Thursday. District Judge Waldemar Senyk released Rebecca Bauer, 25, of 15204 County Highway 15, on her own recognizance. Her next court appearance is Feb. 13.

District Judge Waldemar Senyk released Rebecca Bauer, 25, of 15204 County Highway 15, on her own recognizance. Her next court appearance is Feb. 13.

Bauer is charged with one count each of felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor driving after suspension and misdemeanor failure to produce proof of insurance.

According to the court complaint, A Minnesota state trooper stopped Bauer while driving on Highway 59 near Detroit Lakes Feb. 1. He discovered that Bauer had a suspended driver's license and no proof of insurance on a vehicle she had recently purchased. The trooper also allegedly discovered methamphetamine lying on the driver's seat and in her purse.

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
