The Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church is having an open house Sunday, Oct. 5, at both the 8:15 a.m. casual service and 10:30 a.m. traditional service. All members of the community are invited to attend either service and stay for refreshments, including lunch following the second service.
Throughout the month of September, all church members have been challenged by the Outreach and Evangelism Committee to invite someone to attend services. The open house services will include an inspiring and upbeat message by Pastor Brenda North, and the well-known Senior Choir will be performing two favorite anthems, "Come, Now is the Time to Worship" and "He Never Failed Me Yet."
The choir is directed by Diane Jordan, with piano accompaniment by Jane Ballard. Drummer Bill Mohn will be joining the choir as a guest musician for the Open House. Vocal soloist will be Liz Harman.
The church is located at 885 Pembina Trail, at the corner of Pembina and Lori just off North Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes. The United Methodist Church welcomes all people, which is reflected in the denomination's slogan "Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors."
