MOORHEAD – A Moorhead man is in jail this afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder.
Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said Moorhead police were called to a report of assaults at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday at an address north of Moorhead.
Bergquist would not release further details about the adult female victim or about the arrest, other than to say Michael John Karau, 34, was not taken into custody at the scene.
Karau is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, first-degree assault and interfering with a 911 call. He also has five outstanding Clay County warrants including a probation violation for drugs and a misdemeanor domestic assault.
Bergquist said Moorhead police have turned the case over to Clay County since it’s in their jurisdiction.
