Detroit Lakes Development Authority members are keeping an open mind when it comes to designing the Gateway District.
The former Hardee's and Orton's area will be redesigned once Highway 10 is re-aligned, and while the city has drawn up several plans, nothing has been chosen yet.
New owners of the Mac's Hardware building, who Community Development Director Larry Remmen said he is not at liberty to name, asked the DLDA to take into consideration more parking for the corner business.
Alderman and DLDA chair Jim Anderson said it was premature to discuss that with the owners, since there isn't a plan for the area yet.
"There's no way around it," Remmen agreed. "We don't even have the property."

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will own portions of the land until the project is complete and the state returns it to the city.
"In the plan we should include parking over there," City Administrator Rich Grabow said, acknowledging the need in that area. Mac's is located at the corner of Highway 10 and Washington Avenue.
