The Detroit Lakes Nordic Ski Club will be hosting a Nordic Ski Swap and Chili Feed at the Holiday Inn on Saturday, Dec. 5. There will be a ski swap from 3-7 p.m., along with a Chili Feed (free will donation), and a cash bar will be available.
At the event will be information on area trails, membership information, binding and ski fitting assistance, and a snowmobile and groomer display.
Ski Swap Information:
Ski equipment donation drive – starting Tuesday, Nov. 17, and running through Saturday, Nov. 20, clean out your garage, attic, and lake cabin, and bring all your used Nordic ski equipment (boots, poles, skis) that you would like to donate to the Skirting the Rules clothing alterations shop at 820 Washington Ave., and drop them off with Nikki. Ski club members will go through the equipment, clean it up, and resell at the Ski Swap, with the proceeds going towards trail grooming for this coming winter ski season.
Ski Swap information: If you have equipment you would like to sell for cash, then bring it to either the Ski Swap on Dec. 5, or drop off at the Skirting the Rules shop ahead of time (Nov. 17-20) – club members will put your name on the equipment, and suggest a price for it, with a 20% consignment fee.
On-site binding and fitting support – ski club members will have a table set-up for binding adjustment with club personnel on hand to help with sizing, fitting, and adjustments.
The DL Nordic Ski Club was formed in March, and has raised $16,000 from area businesses and donations, for the purchase of grooming equipment. There are five primary trails that are maintained in the area, all groomed by volunteers.
