An Ogema man was sentenced recently in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of first degree driving while intoxicated.
Michael Keith Belland, 45, of P.O. Box 62, Ogema, was given a 54-month prison sentence and fined $135, to be paid from his prison earnings. He must also reimburse the court for $780 in electronic home monitoring costs.
A related gross misdemeanor charge of driving after license cancellation was dismissed.
According to court records, Belland was arrested July 22 after White Earth tribal police officers received a complaint that a white Ford Thunderbird had been taken without the owner's permission.
Belland was found driving the car and allegedly showed signs of intoxication, but refused to take a breath test.
