The North Country Museum of Arts in Park Rapids announces its annual Juried High School Fine Arts Exhibition, May 1 through May 20.

High School art students, grades 9-12, in the seventh and eighth Congressional Districts will submit work to be included in this juried exhibit.

First, Second, Third, and Merit awards to be chosen in each of twelve categories. Also, "Helen P. Lockridge" cash awards presented during closing reception for artists, their friends and families on Sunday, May 20.

In another component of the Park Rapids exhibit, schools have been asked to submit work to be considered for inclusion in the national high school exhibit, the 2007 Congressional Art Competition "An Artistic Discovery", an annual event sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. One piece will be chosen from Congressman Collin Peterson's district and Congressman James Oberstar's district.

"An Artistic Discovery" is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol. It highlights the work of 400 young people (one from each district in the country). A second work to be chosen will be displayed in the congressman's regional office.
