Lakes Crisis & Resource Center was fortunate to have been selected as a partner for Payless Shoe Source's Payless Shoes 4 Kids program. The Shoes 4 Kids program is a grassroots effort to deliver $1.2 million of free shoes to children of families in need this holiday season.
A holiday party and shoe shopping night was held on Dec. 15 at the Detroit Lakes Payless Shoe Source store. Through this program, Lakes Crisis & Resource Center was able to help 50 area children receive new shoes and boots.
Advocates from the Crisis Center, as well as additional Payless staff, were on hand to assist the excited children in choosing their new shoes or boots. Through additional funding of over $415, Lakes Crisis & Resource Center was also able to help some of the mom's purchase new shoes, and children get warm winter boots with out any out of pocket expense for the family.
