CROOKSTON - A pedestrian in Crookston was killed about 9:30 a.m. today, apparently by a semi-truck making a turn from Robert Street onto Broadway, Crookston Police Chief Tim Motherway said.

The semi, traveling on westbound U.S. Highway 2 through the downtown, was hauling another semi. It was turning onto Broadway, a three-lane, one-way northbound street, when the accident occurred, he said.

The semi was being held in the Domino's Pizza parking lot, about three and a half blocks from the accident scene.

Motherway said the intersection has been the scene of vehicle-pedestrian accidents before.

"It's probably the busiest intersection in town," he said.

The incident is being investigated by Crookston Police, the Polk County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.

Motherway declined to reveal any information about the victim, but a Crookston radio station reported the victim was a woman.
