The Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies sprouted wings and took to the air in their 28-0 victory over Mahnomen Friday evening.
WAO quarterback Casey Larson passed sparingly, but made the most out of his attempts by going 4-9 for 138 yards -- as wide receiver Lucas Goodwin hauled in four receptions for 126 yards.
"Our pass defense was horrible," said Mahnomen head coach John Clark Jr. "Our team inexperience showed when we didn't adjust to defensive changes Warren made. Negative plays and penalties killed the chances we had."
The Ponies expanded on a 14-0 halftime lead -- which was brought on by a pair of rushing touchdowns by Austin Owen (26 yards) and Zach Riopelle (three) -- with Riopelle's second TD of the game on an 11-yard run.
Ryan Oas capped the Indians' chances with a 67-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final quarter.

Mahnomen couldn't establish a rushing attack, picking up only 94 yards on the ground, while quarterback Logan Handyside was picked off three times.
"The players took the loss hard and were hurting, and I never want a team to go through that, but for one reason, I was glad to see it," Clark said. "A team that cares will work to get better."
The Indians (1-2) will host Fertile-Beltrami Friday.
