The case of a Ponsford teenager charged with felony drug possession and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor will be settled at an Oct. 25 disposition hearing in Becker County.

Kevin Wayne Fineday Jr., 17, of 28407 County Road 129, Ponsford, was charged in connection with a May 28 incident in Park Rapids.

A law enforcement officer had observed Fineday riding a bicycle on Main Avenue, in violation of a city ordinance, and asked him to stop. According to the complaint, the officer smelled alcohol on him, and Fineday reportedly admitted that he had been drinking.

While he was being questioned, Fineday kept his hands in his pockets, and something about his manner caused the officer to initiate a pat-down search. In Fineday's pockets, the officer reportedly found a knife, cigarettes and several loose pills that were later identified as containing a narcotic substance. Fineday did not have a prescription for the pills.
