Weekend rains flooded some Becker County roadways over the weekend, causing some headaches for holiday travelers.

But as of Tuesday morning, most of the waterlogged roads had been reopened to traffic, according to County Highway Engineer Brad Wentz.

"We had heavy rain on Saturday night, and the area between Frazee and Ponsford saw somewhere around eight inches of rain, so there were several roads that had some water running over them," Wentz said.

"There's still a little bit of water flowing on County Road 125 by Shipman Lake, but most (of the damage) has been repaired and the roads opened to traffic," he added.

Wentz also noted that there "weren't any big washouts... mostly just some shouldering and some gravel washed off, some slopes that slid down from all the rain."

WDAY also reported Monday that water had flowed over a portion of Highway 34 near Toad Lake.

Both lanes of Highway 34 were covered by water at mile marker 34, according to the report, and a culvert was washed out.
