Rural Frazee man faces two first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges

According to court records, on March 8 a woman reported to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office that her preteen daughter had been sexually assaulted by the man several different times over several years.

Terry Lee Harrison, 68, of rural Frazee, has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, victim under age 13.

According to court records, on March 8 a woman reported to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office that her preteen daughter had been sexually assaulted by Harrison several different times over several years. The victim’s mother allegedly recorded him on cellphone admitting that he knew he had done something terribly wrong.

On Monday, March 15, cash bail or bond for Harrison was set in Becker County District Court at $35,000, with standard conditions of release, or $150,000 with no conditions. His next court appearance is March 29.

Felony mail theft charge dismissed against Wadena woman

Tammy Marie Beupre, 35, of Wadena, has had a felony charge of mail theft dismissed in Becker County District Court.

According to court records, on Nov. 26, 2019, a Becker County resident reported that “copious amounts of mail” belonging to numerous people in the area had been found in a bedroom that had been used by Beupre for about three weeks.

Some of the opened mail included check blanks, and a Becker County deputy found multiple carbon copies of one checkbook with Beupre’s name written in the “pay to the order of” line. All the mail and checks were taken on or around Oct. 23, 2019, and were found in a black leather bag belonging to Beupre, according to the criminal complaint.

On Feb. 26, the Becker County Attorney’s Office dismissed the charge, saying in a court document that it was “unable to prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Detroit Lakes man sentenced for damaging woman's car

JaQuinn Charles David Henderson, 22, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony first-degree damage to property.

According to court records, on Dec. 16, 2020 he threatened a woman in Detroit Lakes in a domestic-related incident. A witness said he swung at her but missed, then went outside where he slashed a tire and broke multiple windows on her vehicle.

On March 1, Becker County District Judge Gretchen Thilmony sentenced Henderson to 13 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed five years.

He was ordered to serve 45 days in jail, with credit for 30 days served, and was fined $1,000 plus $1,150 in court fees and $1,638 in restitution.

He must get anger management and chemical dependency evaluations and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.

A felony domestic assault charge was dropped in a plea agreement.

Man charged with being fugitive from justice

Gabriel Nathan Hoy, 43, of Champlin, Minn., has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony being a fugitive from justice from another state.

According to court records, on March 2 he was arrested in Detroit Lakes on a “public nuisance” charge while trying to break into a residence. At the Becker County Jail, it was discovered he was wanted on a felony warrant from Kansas. On March 3 he admitted he was the person named in the warrant and waived extradition rights.

Man sentenced for fleeing, domestic assault

Ian Carter Sexton, 26, of Montgomery, Minn., has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.

According to court records, on Jan. 2, a woman reported that Sexton took the keys to her red Chevy Monte Carlo without permission, and also took her cellphone and debit card out of her hand.

A deputy spotted him driving the Chevy on Highway 34 in rural Becker County and pulled him over. He was talking on the phone and the deputy heard him identify himself as Sexton. He refused to hang up the phone and refused to step out of the car. Instead he sped away.

The pursuit lasted about a mile on wet and icy roads. Sexton was on the phone with a sheriff’s office dispatcher, who was trying to get him to pull over for the deputy. He stopped and took off again, and eventually tried to pull over a third time, losing control of the car and ending up partially in the ditch.

On March 4, Becker County District Judge Michael Fritz sentenced Sexton to a year and a day in prison at St. Cloud, stayed four years.

He was ordered to serve 139 days in jail, with credit for 139 days served, and was fined $50 plus $200 in court fees.

He must get a diagnostic assessment and a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. He was placed on supervised probation for four years.

A misdemeanor theft charge was dropped in a plea agreement.

Sexton was also sentenced on a gross misdemeanor domestic assault charge to serve a year in jail, 282 days stayed two years and credit for 83 days served. He must pay a $50 fine and $200 in court fees and get a domestic abuse evaluation and follow the recommendations.

A felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation was dropped in a plea agreement.

Sexton was also sentenced on a felony charge of violating a no-contact order. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed five years and fined $500 plus $650 in court fees. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.
