On Wednesday, the Becker County Sheriff's Department apprehended the suspect in a shooting that took place Tuesday night.

An argument among a group of people turned into a shooting at a residence on West Lake Sallie Drive early Tuesday morning.

Jack Thomas Nelson, 18, was taken into custody by the Becker County Sheriff's Office Deputies, along with Frazee Police Department and Ottertail County Sheriff's Office, in the City of Frazee, without incident on Wednesday.

Nelson is a resident of rural Vergas.

During the Tuesday morning incident, Dustin Scott Matson, 22, of rural Detroit Lakes, was shot in the upper leg with a .22 handgun, according to acting Becker County Sheriff Kelly Shannon.

Matson was taken by private vehicle to the emergency room at Essentia St. Mary's hospital in Detroit Lakes, then transferred by ambulance to a Fargo hospital for evaluation. He was later released.

The alleged shooter and the victim "knew each other," Shannon said. "There was a group of individuals, an argument started," and the suspect fired several shots, one of which hit Matson in the leg.

The Nelson and several others fled the scene in a vehicle and the he was dropped off at a residence in Frazee.
