The Garden Quilt Show in Lake Park, which will be held on Aug. 21, raises money for the Families Forever Scholarship.
Two $500 scholarships are given away each year to area young women. Quilts are only displayed, not for sale, unless noted on their label. The quilts are voted on by the people attending. Five prizes are given based on the viewer's choice.
This year's top prize is a $100 gift certificate to the Bay Window Quilt Shop in Perham. The Bay Window is considered one of the top 10 quilting/fabric shops in the country.
This is the 4th year for this event. In the last three years, the event has displayed 100 quilts a year. Exhibitors are asked not bring a quilt they have shown before so there are always new quilts to see.
Besides viewing and voting on the quilts, there are gardens to tour and tea is served. Again this year a limited number of light lunches will be offered for sale. Call to reserve yours.
