Strand to join WMC staff

Frazee native Nicole Strand, M.D will join the Wadena Medical Center staff in September, according to WMC president Dr. Shaneen Schmidt.

Strand completed her undergraduate degree in cell biology at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She attended the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis and will complete her family medicine residency at the Lacrosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency Program in Lacrosse, Wis., this spring.

In her spare time, Strand enjoys spending time with family and friends, skiing, boating and fishing as well as taking flying lessons. Strand and her husband, Brent Gjersvig (originally from Detroit Lakes), plan to live near Verndale. Brent is currently a marine engine mechanic.

Dr. Strand is the daughter of Debi Strand of Frazee, and the late Jim Strand.
